Modelling suggests ABO histo-incompatibility may substantially reduce SARS-CoV-2 transmission

چکیده
• Modelling suggests that blood type incompatibility may reduce the chance of transmitting SARS-CoV-2 by 60 % or more. Type O individuals are less likely to be infected, but “universal donors” and more spread infection. The risk A B depends upon which is frequent in population. Blood group frequencies partly explain different epidemic severity regions world. It important for ALL types vaccinated rather than targeting any specific group. Several independent datasets suggest over-represented under-represented among COVID-19 patients. However, antigens appear not conventional susceptibility factors they do affect disease severity, relative non-O attenuated when population prevalence high. Here, I model a scenario ABO transfusion reduces patient virus an incompatible recipient – thus Western populations AB “super-recipients” while “super-spreaders”. This results offset timing types, increased A/AB patients most pronounced during early stages epidemic. once majority given each approaches unity. Published data on from if this holds true, transmissibility at least %. Exploring implications vaccination strategies shows paradoxically, targeted either high-susceptibility “super-spreader” effective random blocking community virus. Instead, key maintain diversity remaining susceptible individuals. Given good agreement between observational prevalence, underlying biochemistry urgently requires experimental investigation.

متن کاملThe Novel Coronavirus SARS-CoV-2 Vulnerability Association with ABO/Rh Blood Types
Background & Objective: Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) is the most recent emerging viral disease. Defining the epidemiological aspects and factors influencing the susceptibility of the patients to COVID-19 has been an ongoing struggle. In the present study, we have investigated the connection between ABO histo-blood group phenotypes and the COVID-19. Methods:...
متن کاملA narrative review of SARS-CoV-2 pathogenesis, transmission, and clinical manifestations
Background: Severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) has become a major global concern. As of writing this manuscript, there are over 224 million cases diagnosed with the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) and 4.5 million recorded deaths by the disease. Objectives: This review article investigates studies conducted on SARS-CoV-2 pathogenesis, transmission, and different cl...
متن کاملSARS-CoV-2 infection: its psychiatric manifestations
Background: The clinical presentation of SARS-CoV-2 infection was initially dominated by respiratory symptoms. However the clinical spectrum is wide and neuropsychiatric syndromes are also a source of medical concern. Our aims are to present an atypical clinical presentation of SARS-CoV-2 infection characterized by auditory hallucinations and unusual behavior and to emphasize the diversity of ...
